The new COVID-19 vaccines are now available.
We dropped by Walgreens in Alcoa and received the last two doses of the COVID-19 vaccine available at that location. Hopefully they'll get more soon but they would not commit as to when more vaccines would be available.
I've seen articles saying people were not rushing out to get the new COVID-19 vaccine. Appears not to be the case in Alcoa.

Moderna
Does anyone know what drugstores are offering the moderna vaccine?
Don't know. I did a search at
(in reply to Up Goose Creek)
Don't know. I did a search at vaccines.gov and specified Moderna. The results showed Walgreens. However, when we went to Walgreens we received a Pfizer vaccine.
.
Knox Co Health Dept says they expect to have the new vaccine by mid-Oct.
Interesting.
(in reply to S Carpenter)
When Dr. Buchanan was in charge, we were always among the first to get vaccines. Wonder what's going on?
Knox an Blount Counties
Knox an Blount Counties Health Departments do not yet have the COVID-19 vaccines available.
Don't know when will be available.
Wow!
Cutting back?
(in reply to bizgrrl)
These are expensive vaccines. By not staging and endorsing vaccination events when Joe Biden was offering the vaccine for free, Knox County Government has moved the cost of the vaccine directly to the consumer. I'm seeing north of 400 for a covid vaccine and no telling the cost on the RSV vaccine. If you have good insurance, it's probably covered.
People first ignored and are now trying to cover up the ongoing residual financial obligations communities with a sub-standard covid response have incurred.
Imagine an 8.3% cost added to the taxpayer burden for every hospitalized covid patient. That works out to a 69,720 extra cost burden for the two week period where we peaked at sixty patients per day. That money has to come from somewhere, and it comes from taxpayers by continuing to cut our services.
We'll be lucky to have enough teachers to open school next year and rumor has it there will be a big exodus of teachers at Christmas who have just decided to retire. This is where destroying one's medical infrastructure comes back to bite every Knox County resident right in the butt.
To help those without the
To help those without the necessary insurance there is a program to provide the Covid-19 vaccine.
CDC’s Bridge Access Program provides no-cost COVID-19 vaccines to adults without health insurance and adults whose insurance does not cover all COVID-19 vaccine costs. No-cost COVID-19 vaccines through this program will be available until December 31, 2024.
Don't know how well the program works or if is easy to sign up or if it is really readily available.
HHS has these resources to find a COVID-19 vaccine location near you.

(in reply to fischbobber)
Yes. Got it at Walgreens a few weeks ago. Walk-in, no waiting. Covered by insurance.
